The latest addition to the Tinius Olsen polymer testing line is the MP1500 Melt Flow Indexer. The tester features the latest in melt flow measurement technology where load is applied by a loadcell via a drive system with a PID control feedback, there are no dead weights. This robust design incorporates quality materials and components and ensures that our reputation for superior system performance, ease of use, and longevity is maintained. The MP1500 becomes a complete powerful test system with the addition of Tinius Olsen’s Horizon Data Analysis software.

Interface

This unit features a color touch-screen LCD display. Operators can configure the options available for the machine and program user settings (language, units, alarms, etc). Individual test protocols can be set and stored for rapid recall when needed and can be used to control the machine by itself or in conjunction with Tinius Olsen’s Horizon software.

The twister is designed to check the number of twists required to fracture a wire. Normally furnished as a bench unit, these machines are also available as floor models, and as multiple twisting units for simultaneously testing two, three or more samples.

 

The standard, variable speed, motor drive makes up to 62 twists per minute (rpm) with a maximum torsion rating of 1,500in.lbs. A counter indicates the total number of twists, and automatically stops the machine when the specimen fails.

 

Wire samples up to 18in long can be accomodated. An initial tensile load of up to 150lb can be applied to prevent kinking. Load is read in 2lb, increment on a scale.

The model IT542 Impact shares the same features as the model IT406 except that it has an available energy of 542J (400ft.lbf). The IT542 is also supplied complete with automatic motorized return and digital display.

 

The model IT 542 provides maximum testing versatility. Easy insertion of interchangeable strikers in the pendulum head quickly adapts the machine for either Charpy or Izod testing. Two studs on the rear of the pendulum head allow optional tooling to be attached for performing tension impact tests.

 

A latch with a safety lock holds the pendulum in its raised position and assures a vibration-free release when activated. Once released, the pendulum quickly reaches the impact velocity of 5.47m/s (17.0ft/s) and has a maximum available energy of 542J (400ft.lbf) to impact the specimen.

 

The superior design and construction of the model IT542 ensures maximum testing accuracy and repeatability. When the machine is properly installed and levelled, the total frictional and windage losses during the pendulum swing are guaranteed not to exceed 0.5% of the energy range.
